Dubai based influencer Khalid Al Ameri traveled with filmmaker Faisal Hashmi to Rajanpur, Pakistan this week in order to shoot a new video raising awareness of the ongoing flooding that the country is being affected by.
As mentioned in his Instagram bio, Al Ameri creates videos about life in the Middle East but felt that the struggles that Pakistan are facing needed to be seen by the world.
According to Hashmi, the goal of his collaboration with Al Ameri is to accurately cover the impact of the major flooding in Pakistan.

In a series of stories he shared on his Instagram, Al Ameri shows the world that the flooding does not simply consist of overflown rivers, it is whole housing communities, with streets and cars that are now completely underwater and require boats to travel through.
“Entire villages and entire communities are just gone in a matter of weeks.” said Al Ameri.
“Without getting help from around the world, which it’s not getting enough of to rebuild these places, their lives are ruined permanently.”
Khalid Al Ameri’s video
Al Ameri and Hashmi took two days to reach Rajanpur in the Sindh province of Pakistan as it is incredibly difficult to navigate due to the high water levels.
“The UK heatwave got 10 times more coverage.” he said in another story.
A later video sees Al Ameri and Hashmi at a relief camp for families and children who have been dispersed by the flooding. Makeshift hospitals have been set up inside schools and are treating sick mothers and children affected by the diseases that floods bring.
Pakistan needs more help
He did point out that many disaster relief groups and NGO’s are operating in the area attempting to provide food, shelter and medicine but emphasized that more aid is needed.

“It is so heartbreaking to see this many children here but heartening to see the collective effort made by volunteers.”
Echoing a similar sentiment, Faisal Hashmi, a Pakistani national stated in a post that it was both eye opening and heart breaking for him to witness the true extent of the damage within his own country.

He would go on to state in the post’s caption that he hopes the video he created with Khalid Al Ameri raises awareness so that enough aid can be given to Pakistan.
