You weren’t imagining that, Dubai–an earthquake just rocked the city, as well as the broader UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and actually a lot of the rest of the Middle East.
The earthquake was centered 18 km from Hormozgan Province, in Iran at 4:08 pm at a magnitude of 6.3, with aftershocks felt in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and Afghanistan, according to U.S. Geological Survey, ready.gov.
Reports across social media have been pouring in that an earthquake was felt across the region, with many wondering what they’d just felt.
Some reports said it lasted for several minutes.
Videos have been streaming in from across the city, with many posting videos from their apartments and offices of the effect of the tremors from the Iran-based earthquake.

Sources in Dubai have told us that some buildings have been evacuated, with one person telling Esquire Middle East that they had to walk down 43 flights of stairs due to safety precautions.
“Felt dizzy and confused for a hot minute till I saw the curtains moving!” said one person on Twitter.
“A 6.2 Magnitude Earthquake on Richter scale is recorded in South of Iran at 16:07, 14/11/2021 “UAE time” confirmed the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology on Twitter.
Fun fact: one of the greatest shocks ever recorded by seismographs was an earthquake also in the Arabian Sea, about 300 kilometres away from Karachi. The quake which was recorded back in 1945 was rumoured to have been near the double ridge that runs along the bed of the sea.
