The sneaker world may well be a wild ride of cartoonish one-upmanship right now, but for those looking to add some truly personalised grail kicks to their collection we have something that may interest you. While influencers are pushing boundaries of taste and decency with their footwear choices, how about you add your own image to two of the most iconic adidas silhouettes of all-time? The only catch is that you have just three days to do it, a race against time in a bid for footwear immortality.

Right about now, this feels kind of wholesome. You can either have your picture taken on-site or choose your own picture to feature on the shoe. Maybe it could be of a loved one, or a cherished pet? You could go iconic and feature someone like Fairuz. There are myriad permutations. The customisation team will print the image onto the tongue of the sneakers, ensuring your place amongst legends including Stan Smith, Run DMC, Liam Gallagher and more. How to grasp your glory? Well, simply head to the Footlocker store at The Dubai Mall between August 3-6.

Personalised adidas Stan Smith

While the adidas Stan Smith has been almost ubiquitous since it was renamed in the American tennis star’s honour in 1978 (it had been previously named after the French tennis player, Robert Haillet), the Superstar was a basketball shoe beloved of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar before being taken to the streets by Run-DMC and the hip-hop community.

Slightly closer to home, in 2022 adidas collaborated with Dubai’s ionic Pakistani restaurant, Ravi, with a Superstar shoe that featured its menu on the inside of the tongue. The shoe swiftly hit the resale market for prices of $12,000.

And ok, while the opportunity for you to create a one-of-a-kind adidas collab might not lead to quite as much interest on the sneaker market, it remains a great opportunity for you to put some soul back into your footwear.

Head to Footlocker at The Dubai Mall between August 3-6 to make your mark on sneaker history. The personalisation service is free upon every purchase of Stan Smith or Superstar shoes.

Now, where did we put that picture of Edel Emam?
