The four men had never met: “We all just came together to save the cat”

Sheikh Mohammed has returned a viral act of kindness in Dubai with another—a gift of AED 50,000 for the four men who saved a cat’s life in Dubai this week.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, previously lauded the four men on social media.

An official from Sheikh Mohammed’s office visited the four men, Ashraf, a Moroccan watchman; Atif Mehmood, a Pakistani salesman; Nasser, an Indian driver who works with the RTA, and Mohammed Rashid who shot the video, and gifted them each an envelope of AED 50,000 in cash.

The men were not friends before this occurred, telling the Khaleej Times that, “we all sort of just came together to save the cat.”

It’s the most remarkable video to come out of Dubai since a woman stood on top of the Burj Khalifa. In it, a cat who was trapped on the outside of a building was saved by a group of men who used a sheet to catch the cat when it fell, saving its life.

It’s a joyful clip, and it has brought joy across the UAE.

“Proud and happy to see such acts of kindness in our beautiful city. Whoever identifies these unsung heroes, please help us thank them,” Sheikh Mohammed posted.

Sheikh Mohammed’s response has been shared over 1000 times since he posted it in English, and has been shared nearly 4,000 times in Arabic, with which he shared a similar caption.

The clip has been shared across the world, with many commenting on how the video restored their faith in humanity.
