The international tournament will be held for the first time in the Middle East

With the Euro 2020 currently ongoing and the World Cup fast approaching, fans have plenty to be excited about.

As long as you’re vaccinated that is, as the 2022 World Cup will be requiring fans to be fully vaccinated if they want to get into the stadium.

Safety is the top priority when it comes to attending these events. Since the start of the pandemic, Qatar have recorded 220,800 COVID-19 cases and 585 deaths.

Speaking to a local Newspaper, Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani stated, “Due to the possibility that some countries will not be able to vaccinate all their citizens, Qatar will not allow fans to enter stadiums without receiving a full vaccination against the virus.”

The 2022 World Cup will see 32 teams competing in the World Cup, taking place at 8 different venues within 5 host cities in Qatar. It will also mark the first time that the tournament is held in the Middle East and in order to bring as many people as possible for what promises to be a historic event, Sheikh Khalid mentioned that he is in discussions with a company to provide one million vaccine doses in order to immunize fans who are planning to come to Qatar.

“Our primary goal in vaccinating the unvaccinated is to protect the public health of citizens and residents” He added.

Luckily there’s still plenty of time to get vaccinated before the big event so make sure you protect yourselves as well as others if you want to attend the World Cup next year in Qatar which starts on November 21 2022.
