No one is said to have been hurt in the incident, but many nightmares have been created

What would you do if you walked back to your parking spot and found your car was gone? First, you’d probably assume you were in the wrong place, followed by a nagging feeling it might have been towed.

Even if you saw a big puddle, would you assume that your car was in that puddle?

A person in Mumbai just went through that, and we have some bad news—their car is down that puddle.

In a terrifying video, a car in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar neighborhood is seen sinking into a puddle, swallowed completely in just 26 seconds. The puddle formed after heavy rains had been falling on the populous Indian city.

The video has gone viral across the world after being shared on Twitter by Rupin Sharma, and IPS officer.

The lights to the car are on, leading some to worry that a person was in the car as it sunk, but reports have come out of India that no one was harmed in the incident.

The clip’s nightmarish quality, given with no context, has caught the attention of people in many different countries, inspiring debates and horrified reactions.

Mumbai Police have attempted to explain the incident.

“We believed that the incident had occurred on a street and would cause traffic congestion. On reaching there, we figured it was private property,” said a police official.

“A portion of a well had been covered using reinforced concrete and was being used as a parking space by the society members. Due to excessive rainfall over the past few days and probably the weight of the vehicle, the concrete portion caved in around 9 am. Fortunately, there was nobody in the car,” the official continued.

The municipal government is attempting to remove the car.
