Concerts are back for the vaccinated, with restaurants and venues increasing capacity overall

Dubai has announced an update to its COVID-19 precautionary measures for events and activities in the emirate, and it’s a big one.

Not only that, all revised measures are effective from May 17—today.

Squashing any speculation to the contrary, observing physical distancing of two metres and wearing face masks continue to be mandatory.

Weddings events are allowed, though maximum attendance is now set at 100 for venues and hotels, with all attendees and staff required to be vaccinated.

Wedding events at homes have a lower cap, with am max of 30 attendees. Precautionary measures should be strictly observed, said a statement from the Dubai Media Office.

Entertainment venues are now returning to a higher capacity, increasing to 70 per cent occupancy.

Hotels now don’t have a limit at all, with occupancy of hotels raised to 100 per cent capacity.

Concerts are now again permitted, but there’s one big condition—all attendees and participants must be vaccinated.

Community sports events are allowed with spectators, but all attendees, participants and staff must have received the COVID-19 vaccine as well.

Indoor events have a capacity of 1,500 and outdoor events at 2,500 capacity, a big increase.

Restaurants will also increase table capacity, with now 10 people allowed per table, with coffee shops at six people per table.
