All private sector employees will work two fewer hours per day for the holy month

All private sector employees in the UAE will see their working hours reduced by two hours for the holy month of Ramadan.

The move was announced by HE Nasser Bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources & Emiratisation, who cited federal law no. 8 for 1980 on regulating labour relations.

The announcement on the shortened hours for the holy month was made via Twitter.

Public sector workers already had their working hour reduction announced, with all timings being from 9:00am to 2:00pm during Ramadan. That announcement came from a circular to all ministries and federal entities.

In the public sector, however, there are exceptions, as the circular also announced that timings do not apply to all, especially those whose job requires different hours.

Ramadan in the UAE is predicted to begin on April 13, subject to moon sighting.
