You can watch the only solar eclipse of 2020 right here later this afternoon

Fresh from the Gemenids Meteor shower last night, today will see another spectacular space phenomenon – a solar eclipse.

Today’s solar eclipse will be the only one of 2020. And you can follow along with its phases.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes in front of the sun, briefly blocking out its light and leaving what looks to be a halo of bright light in the sun.

First, the good news: you will be able to watch the Solar Eclipse later today from wherever you are. Now the bad, to see it physically you will need to be in Chile or Argentina.

Fortunately, we live in a world full of technology. And you too can watch the solar eclipse from wherever you are later today.

A partial solar eclipse will begin at 8:33AM EST (5:33PM Gulf Standard Time), and a total eclipse (where the moon is fully blocking the sun) will begin at 9:32AM EST (6:33PM Gulf Standard Time).

To watch the only solar eclipse of 2020 live from wherever you are, you can see it below at the times above courtesy of the CosmoSapiens Solar Eclipse webcast:
