The Maldives has started the world’s first-ever loyalty scheme for a country.
The program – which borrows many of the features from airline and hotel-like programs – aims to bolster the tourism industry, which makes up almost two-thirds of The Maldives GDP.
The system will work across three tiers: Aida (bronze), Antara (silver), and Abaarana (gold). You can enroll right here.
Much like other loyalty programs, you get points for various activities; such as 50 points for going across the border, and five points per night spent in the country.
You only need 500 points to hit bronze status, which works out to be around four trips of seven days. Visitors will also get special bonus points for visiting the tropical island chain on special occasions, such as a honeymoon or anniversary.
Perks include VIP Immigration and Duty Free discounts.
