Bask in the majesty that is officially the ‘best horse in the world’.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has the best horse in the world. Ghaiyyath – who races out of Godolphin’s stables – was given the accolade earlier today.
The horse hit a new career high on the database of the British Horse Authority, the horse world’s leading word on rankings. Much like athletes, horses are rated on career wins and losses.
Ghaiyyath recently won a race in York, and was crowned Cartier Horse of the Year. That also earned him a rating of 130 (+3) – the highest in horse history. The previous best horse was Aidan O’Brien’s Love, followed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid’s Battaash.
The horse’s trainer Charlie Appleby has said they are not phased by making history, and that there are no plans yet for Ghaiyyath to retire. He will still compete in all of this year’s major races.
“Ghaiyyath has come back from York in fine order,” Appleby is quoted as saying on Godolphin’s website. “He has taken it well, and post-race, he looks very good.
“Our policy is always to do what is best for the horse. He is a great horse to be dealing with and a true champion from a sire line His Highness Sheikh Mohammed [bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai] has nurtured and developed over the past two decades.
Ghaiyyath comes from very good stock, as he is the progeny of Dubawi another world famous horse from the Godolphin stables.
So there you go – Ghaiyyath the horse is officially a GOAT as well.
