Major Dubai property developer, Emaar, has announced that it is scrapping the use of job titles within its company, with the policy consistant from its Chairman all the way to junior support staff.
In an open letter to its staff Emaar chairman, Mohammed Alabbar, made the announcement of the new corporate policy going forward, before signing off without his job title attached.
According to Alabbar, a key driver in the decision was its desire to further empower its employees, and hopes the news structure will “focus on talent, and not titles”.
The developer of both The Dubai Mall and the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, is one of the biggest employers within the emirate, and like all large companies has felt the squeese of the recent global distrubtion of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In his statement, Alabbar stated that Emaar instead intends use this challenging period as a moment to “pause and reflect” on the business, and “the culture we create”
“Of course structers are needed, but I believe every single member of the organisation adds great value. Emaar is not a collection of talented individuals, but a team of great pooled talent,” it read.
