At 12:33 am later today, American astronauts will be blasted into space by Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
The launch will be the first time in almost nine years that astronauts have gone to space in an American-made rocket, and from American soil.
The two-person crew includes NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley – who have done previous stints on the International Space Station.
Provided all is well weather-wise, the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will take off at 12:33 am Dubai time (or 4:33 pm EDT).
NASA is making it pretty easy to watch the significant event – the entire launch as well as the Astronauts 19-hour mission to the ISS will be broadcast live via Nasa’s YouTube page and app.
The Falcon 9 rocket that SpaceX is using for this launch is Elon Musk’s largest. If successful, the partially reusable rocket will usher in a new era for space travel, because if a private company can get humans into space, why not the moon next? Or even Mars?
