Dubai‘s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan has officially opened Dubai’s first field hospital. Dubai World Trade Centre has been temporiarily converted into a field hospital with the capacity to treat around 3,000 patients during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
According to Dubai public health officials, the facility has been set up as a precautionary measure.

“We will have more than two field hospitals ready in Dubai to be ready for any situation,” Humaid Al Qutami, the director general of the Dubai Health Authority. “We will have more than two field hospitals ready in Dubai in the coming days to be ready for any situation.”

Dubai is also setting up two more field hospitals with an additional capacity of 4,000 to 5,000 beds.
The UAE currently has 6,302 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the country and has announced the death of 37 people at the hands of the Covid-19 virus.
