Everyone leaving the house must wear a mask and gloves

Dubai has issued a 24-hour lockdown this past weekend to continue the city’s mass sterilisation programme against Covid-19. The emirate has now clarified that residents will need a pre-approved permit to step out of their house for essential activities including jobs that have been declared exempt from restrictions.

All members of the public in Dubai looking to leave their home for essential purposes must apply for a permit to do so, the Members Supreme Committee of Crisis & Disaster Management has clarified.

People can apply for the movement permit on the new website or call the hotline 800737648 for enquiries.

Individuals are only allowed to leave their homes for essential purposes, such as buying food or medicine, and getting medical assistance from healthcare service providers including hospitals, clinics and pharmacies.

The UAE government has also declared that everyone leaving the house must wear a mask and gloves, and ensure they keep a safe distance from others.

The Supreme Committee added: “A two-week, 24-hour sterilisation campaign in Dubai was announced on Saturday night, with the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management stressing that residents need to #StayHome. Anyone violating the restrictions will face stringent legal action.”
