In a normal universe penguins and beluga whales would probably never meet. Beluga Whales are native to the Arctic and Penguins to the southern hemisphere. But at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, the penguins who have have been routinely let loose to explore other parts of the facitily, were completely captivated upon meeting those whales.
Wellington – one of the oldest rockhoppers at 32 years old – and other penguins were allowed to explore life on the other side of the glass, as they went on a ‘field trip’, to visit the underwater viewing area of Shedd’s Oceanarium which houses several beluga whales.
The beluga whales could not stop staring at the penguin. Wellington met the whales Kayavak, Mauyak and baby Annik and it is the best thing you will see on the internet today.

“Without guests in the building, caretakers are getting creative in how they provide enrichment to animals,” the aquarium told the Chicago Tribune in March.
“Introducing new experiences, activities, foods and more to keep them active, encourage them to explore, problem-solve and express natural behaviors.”
