Air Drake is getting a makeover

While we’re all stuck at home, Off-White’s Virgil Abloh has not been spending his time in lockdown on the couch, infront of the telly. Take a big rewind to 2019 and the big debut of Drake’s US$185 million private jet – ‘Air Drake’. Back then, the 32-year-old rapper took his audience on a private tour of the plane’s interior, showing off brown and gold luxury sofas as well as the plane’s golden walls. But it seems, the plane is getting a whole new look by none another than fashion’s current numero uno Virgil Abloh.

In an Instagram post, Abloh posted pictures of Drake’s newly remodelled jet and said “The tail number is a problem and the FBO is a whole other story… ABLOH ENGINEERING.”

The new look for Drake’s Boeing 767 cargo plane seems to have been inspired from his 2013 hit album “Nothing Was the Same” cover art and features blue skies with fluffy white clouds.

The exterior of the plane features the OVO owl symbol as well as the monicker ‘Air Drake’. OVO stands for Drake’s company – October’s Very Own – and for his record label – OVO Sound.

In case you didn’t know, Abloh has a civil engineering degree, which the designer completed in 2002 as an undergraduate student, and is showing his versality and expertise with the new design.

While Drake might have to wait until the skies are open again to takeout his newly revamped plan for a spin, he’s hard at work at a new song. TikTok has already turned the unreleased song into a viral dance: the “Toosie Slide.”
