During the Covid-19 outbreak, working from home is now a reality for many people around the world. But while many daily commuters are glad to take steps towards social distancing to stop the spread of the deadly virus, nobody is quite so happy about the new work situation than many four legged flat mates.
A new Instagram account—DogsWorkingFromHome— has sprung up and captured the hearts of many social media users.
Initially started by Mark Polchleb, a brand manager from Melbourne, who told the Guardian that after his first day of home quaratine he realised that the best part of working from home were his four-legged pals.
He said: “I just took advantage of the fact that my dogs are at my feet. I thought ‘we all need a bit of happiness in our lives right now’.”
But that’s not the only social media account giving us a little bit of furry goodness on a daily basis. Many work from home-ers have now realised that their pets cheer people up in this current climate of doom and gloom.
Animals have been proven to reduce stress levels and anxiety in humans. People with pets have lower blood pressure in stressful situations than those without pets. One study even found that when people with borderline hypertension adopted dogs from a shelter, their blood pressure declined significantly within months. So in these stressful times, if you have a pet at home, make the most of them. If you don’t, well, we’ve got you covered.
