While Roger Federer may be out of action for the next couple of months recovering from knee surgery, he just won big as he got his popular RF logo back from Nike.
FedEx shimmied over from Nike to Uniqlo two years ago for quite a few millions, but in the process lost out on his famous logo. The 38-year-old was not allowed to use the logo as Nike had owned the licensing. They owned it ddepite his departure and it allowed them to sell the remainder of its Federer-branded stock.
However, it was clear that Federer was unhappy with how things unfolded when he decided to move over to Uniqlo.
“The ‘RF’ logo is with Nike at the moment, but it will come to me at some point. I hope rather sooner than later, that Nike can be nice and helpful in the process to bring it over to me,” Federer said at a Wimbledon press conference in 2018.
“It’s also something that was very important for me, for the fans. They are my initials. They are mine. The good thing is it’s not theirs forever. In a short period of time, it will come to me.”
Now it has been revealed that Tentro AG that was founded by Federer in 2007 has now acquired the logo from Nike. The purpose of the company is “among other things, the acquisition of real estate and intellectual property rights.”

However, there’s no confirmation yet from the star so we’ll just have to wait and see if the logo will appear on his kits this year.
