The Disney star is in Dubai this weekend

What a difference a year makes. This time last year, the charming face of young actor Mena Massoud was relatively unknown.

But then, boom, Disney releases its remake of Aladdin and it goes on to gross more than $1 billion worldwide. Suddenly that ‘relatively unknown’ guy who played the titular role is a superstar, with his face on the side of busses, his voice on the radio and even making the cover of Esquire Middle East.

Massoud has gone from ‘risky bet’ to bankable box office name (Disney has already announced an Aladdin sequel) who this month will headline the ninth edition of the Middle East Film and Comic Con, in Dubai.

The trailblazing pop-culture event will again be giving gamers, comic and film fans the chance to meet stars, attend workshops and compete in some rather full-on Cosplay competitions…if that’s your jam.
