Can’t wait for season 2 of The Witcher? Then this card game is for you

Henry Cavill has already confirmed that The Witcher season 2 is in development, but realistically that won’t hit your Netflix screens for another 12 months.

Fortunately, the series’ video game developer CD Projekt Red is here to fill the gap. It has taken the fictional dwarven card game from the books and turned it into an Android app.

Gwent was an optional mini-game in 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the PS4 and Xbox One, but went on to attract a legion of fans.

Now, the developers have spun Gwent off into its own standalone game – which has just landed on the Android app store (the iPhone version arrived last October).

The game will support cross-play between PC, iOS and Android.

The free mobile game is monetized a variety of ways, letting you pick up cards from US$5 to US$40.

Both Netflix’s December 2019 season of “The Witcher” and CD Projekt’s game franchise were based Andrzej Sapkowski’s stories.
