It’s a little over a month until we can hear the familiar sound of an F1 car engine racing on the track and the smell of burning tires. The new 2020 F1 season will begin on March 15, 2020 in Melbourne, Australia and the teams in anticipation of that are rolling out their new and improved cars and liveries.
So here’s a look at some of the new (and improved) 2020 F1 cars:
Mercedes: February 14
Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes took home their sixth consequtive world championship in December 2019. They’re currently aiming for a seventh in 2020. If Hamilton wins this season, he will have equalised the current record of seven world championships currently held by German racer Michael Schumacher.
Ferrari: February 11 [revealed]
The main question the Tifosi have for the team is if this new SF1000 will give Ferrari a fighting chance in the constructor’s championship. The prancing horse hasn’t won since Kimi Raikkonen’s scintillating win at the last race of the season in 2007. Anothing obvious question for the team is whether the current partnership of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc will stay the same throughout the 2020 season.
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing: February 12 [revealed]
Red Bull have released the first image of their RB16 that Max Verstappen and Alex Albon will drive for the 2020 F1 season. The team last won the championship with Sebastian Vettel in 2013 and has had a tough time in the last few years. F1.com reports that the RB16 will also be the second Red Bull to be powered by Honda, the Japanese power unit manufacturer having shown an impressive rate of development in the back of the Red Bulls (and Toro Rossos) last year, leading to the partnership being extended to the end of 2021.
