Pitt is happy to tell the story, but won’t say why Leo calls him the wierd nickname

Brad Pitt did good at the SAG Awards.

Yes, he won the Best Supporting Actor award, but we really mean that internet-melting photo with Jennifer Aniston, and that self-deprecating, Tarantino-roasting speech. For most men, that would have been enough. But Brad wasn’t content with just those two moments of gold.

He also decided to reveal the weird nickname that Leonardo DiCaprio knows him by.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly on the red carpet, Pitt said, “‘Lover’. He calls me ‘lover.'” Although, dialling back the candour momentarily, Pitt then refused to be drawn on precisely how he acquired that particular nickname. “It’s a bit confusing, but I roll with it,” he deflected.

Well, a man has to have some secrets.

Pitt’s speech was a big love letter to his fellow actors and filmmakers, so it made sense that he’d extend that sentiment to his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star as well. “You’ll find, with most of the guys, I would say we’re all pretty much rooting for each other, we all have respect for each other, we all have a good laugh with each other. And it plays. And it’s pretty easy.”

Just take a look at the pair enjoying the SAG Awards together and tell us that they’re not as close in real-life as they are in the film.
