Apple is taking part in the world’s largest consumer electronics show (CES) early next year, for the first time in 28-years.
CES is one of the biggest technology conferences in the world and generally sees every technological bigwig showcase their plans for the New Year. Apple – which generally showcases its own launches or participates in its own Worldwide Developer Conference – has shunned CES since 1992.
It has been announced that Apple will take part in roundtable discussions at CES. While the company will not be displaying any new products, it is at least a start in the right direction.
Apple’s senior director of privacy Jane Horvath will be part of the Chief Privacy Officer Roundtable and will be speaking with executives from Facebook, Proctor & Gamble and the Federal Trade Commission. Topics will include, “how companies build privacy at scale, regulation and consumer demands.”
While Apple has been missing from CES, there’s no doubting that Apple has influenced much of what will be exhibited. Many companies showcase designs that take inspiration from Apple’s design portfolio, including the likes of Samsung and LG.
Apple’s return to CES is scheduled for January 7 in Las Vegas at CES 2020.
