Did you know in Abu Dhabi residents can rent e-scooters as a legal means of transport

There’s one thing you won’t find at the Expo 2020 Dubai site — E-scooters.

The zippy little motorised scooters that are all the rage around the world will not be allowed on the Expo 2020 Dubai site in a bid to ensure visitors’ safety, reports Arabian Business.

“For reasons of health and safety and the overall visitor experience, personal mobility vehicles/equipment, including motorised e-scooters, will not be allowed on to the Expo site, with the exception of wheelchairs and baby strollers,” the Expo 2020 Dubai statement said.

It’s now a common site to see people on their e-scooters in and around Dubai. But Expo 2020 is not the only one to ban the use. Singapore has banned the riding of e-scooters on sidewalks in the city-state along with France.

E-scooter accidents are on the rise, and companies like Lyft have suspended e-scooter operations in six US markets, according to TechCrunch.

While there’s no such regulations in the UAE yet, in Abu Dhabi residents can rent e-scooters as a legal means of transport in the emirate.
