Louis Vuitton designer Nicolas Ghesquière has come out all guns blazing in criticism of US president Donald Trump’s recent visit to the Louis Vuitton factory in the US.
Ghesquière, artistic director of women’s collections at Louis Vuitton, has been fiercely critical on his personal instagram page against Trump’s visit. He is “refusing this association” between LVMH and Trump.
The designer posted the album cover of Evelyn Thomas’s 1984 hit, “High Energy,” and captioned the photo, “Standing against any political action. I am a fashion designer refusing this association #trumpisajoke.”
This then prompted the hashtag #BoycottLouisVuitton on social media.
Trump was invited by the Chief Executive of LVMH to open the new Louis Vuitton factory in Texas. The US President there was pictured with the top brass inclusing Arnault and Louis Vuitton CEO Michael Burke for the ceremonial opening. Ivanka Trump also present at the event.

Along with Louis Vuitton, LVMH owns 75 luxury, fashion, and beauty brands, including fashion houses like Christian Dior, Givenchy, Celine, and Loewe.
