London is about to get a new “super boutique” hotel aptly call The Londoner. It is scheduled to open its doors in June 2020 and will be located in Leicester Square on Whitcomb Street.
The Londoner is the latest project by Edwardian Hotels London, the privately-owned hotel group behind the development of The May Fair Hotel and a collection of restaurant and bar brands, including May Fair Kitchen, May Fair Bar, newly opened Bloomsbury Street Kitchen and Peter Street Kitchen.
With more than £300 million of investment, Edwardian Hotels London hopes this new hotel will be the world’s first ‘Super Boutique’ hotel.
The hotel will open across 16 storeys with 350 guest rooms and suites and a tower penthouse with panoramic views of the city; two private screening rooms; a mix of six concept eateries, bars and a tavern, including alfresco dining on the ground floor and a contemporary Japanese lounge bar with a rooftop terrace and fire pit; plus an expansive ballroom suited for any occasion, a variety of meeting spaces and a gym and spa.
The hotel has been deisgned by Yabu Pushelberg, the renowned designers behind the Four Seasons hotel in Downtown Manhattan New York, Jean George’s The Fulton and luxury retailer Lane Crawford’s 150,000-square-foot Shanghai flagship, and will complement the remarkable 16-storey architecture by Woods Bagot, known for the sky-high New York Manhattan restaurant and the Adelaide Contemporary.
The hotel’s 350 guestrooms and suites will open from levels seven to sixteen and feature floor to ceiling windows.
