This weekend saw Batman Day – the 80th anniversary of everyone’s favoruite caped crusader – and fans around the world took to the streets to celebrate the world’s greatest detective.
In a nod to Batman, the iconic bat signal was projected on to buildings across the world. Fans of the DC Comics superhero spotted the famous distress call at 8pm in Melbourne, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Berlin, Rome and London.
The sign was projected on the Domino Sugar Refinery in Brooklyn (widely regarded as the inspiration for Batman’s city of Gotham), as well as popular tourist spots across the world.
The Dark Knight’s famous logo could be seen illuminated at Tokyo’s famous Shibuya scramble crossing, as well as Johannesburg’s Leonardo Building (which is also the tallest building in Africa). The Bat signal was also spotted on London’s Senate House.
