The Grammy Award-winning singer is heading to Australia, to perform at the ‘Race that Stops a Nation’ at the Melbourne Cup.
Taylor Swift will sing two songs from her new album Lover, beforew sitting back and watching the famous horse race that has been run on the first Tuesday of November ever since 1876.
The Victoria Racing Club made the announcement on social media. It said it was “super excited” for Swift’s one-off appearance in Australia. “Sorry Taylor, we’ll try and calm down” it added.
According to VRC chief executive Neil Wilson, Swift was an obvious choice as the club attemts to court a younger demographic.
“We’re targeting more and more of the next generation coming through,” he said of the race.
Swift’s appearance has certainly worked. There has been a rush for tickets for the race, from racing fans and music aficionados.
