‘Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us’, the Facebook event has been cancelled. To no surprise, it was over safety concerns.
The joke Facebook event that was storming Area 51 quickly spiralled out of control, with two million people signing up to attend and a further 1.5 million saying they were interested. The sobering reality that a highly weaponised and secure military base ‘could’ stop all of them has now sunk in and the event has been scrapped.
The Facebook event became more official when it was renamed to ‘AlienStock’, a pun on the infamous Woodstock concerts. The highly dangerous rushing of a military base has now been repurposed as a friendly music and entertainment festival.
Go to the original Facebook page and you’ll now see the moderators of the page endorsing the event as this music festival rather than the first idea of running into the base.

This festival too hit a speed bump when it was announced that the festival would be in Rachel, Nevada, the nearest hospitable place to Area 51, has been deemed a major safety risk. The event has been moved to a safer location, away from, you know, all the massive guns.
AlienStock explains:
“Due to the lack of infrastructure, poor planning, risk management and blatant disregard for the safety of the expected 10,000+ AlienStock attendees, we decided to pull the plug on the festival.”
AlienStock is being moved to Downtown Las Vegas and will take place on September 19, the day before the storming was meant to happen.
The festival website goes onto explain that keeping it in Rachel would’ve had the event fail entirely and labelled as the new Fyre.
“We are not interested in, nor will we tolerate any involvement in a FYREFEST 2.0. We foresee a possible humanitarian disaster in the works, and we can’t participate in any capacity at this point.”
Area 51 is a max-security US Air Force base which is said to carry out secret developments and testing of aircrafts and classified aircraft research. Over the years though, the mysterious place has given rise to a plethora of conspiracy theories that say the base is used for the storage, examination and reverse engineering of crashed UFOs and even alien specimens.

The US Air Force itself issued a stern warning against the masses of people that wanted to get themselves an alien.
Air Force spokesperson Laura McAndrews released a warning to potential trespassers:
“[Area 51] is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces,” she said.
McAndrews added: “The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets”.
Honestly, thank goodness this isn’t happening anymore but we’re a bit upset we won’t be getting Guy Fieri’s radioactive ribs anymore.
