This revelation came about in a series of late night tweets

US President Donald Trump has set Twitter ablaze once again after he tweeted that he “cancelled” a secret meeting at Camp David with Taliban and Afghan leaders after a suspected Taliban attack.

In a barrage of tweets Trump said: “Unbeknownst to almost everyone, the major Taliban leaders and, separately, the President of Afghanistan, were going to secretly meet with me at Camp David on Sunday,”

Trump has come under intense criticism for his secret meeting revelation after archived tweets have emerged of him attacking the Obama goverment for negotiating with the Taliban in 2012. 

Twitter since then has teared into the US President for hosting the meeting three days before the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attcks in New York.

NBC News reports that around 2,400 Americans have been killed in Afghanistan. There are still about 14,000 US troops in the country.
