Is Lewis Hamilton retiring soon? Well, after 241 races, 81 victories, 144 podiums and a record five driver’s championships, Lewis Hamilton has said he has absolutely no plans to retire from F1 anytime soon.
Speaking to SkySports, the 34-year-old said: “One day I will have to stop, but right now I feel fantastic physically and mentally.”
He’s currently leading the rankings and if the second half of the season goes as plan, he’ll be one step closer to Michael Schumacher’s record seven title wins.
“I don’t currently have any plans of stopping soon. There’s more to do, there’s more to win, there’s more to achieve together, inside and outside of the car,” he added.
The Mercedes driver has come out in defense of F1 in the past and has said that the drivers should not be blamed for “boring” F1 races and has been forthright in his assessment that “serious changes” are needed to the sport’s plans to overhaul its rules in 2021.
“We don’t write the rules,” he said. “We have nothing to do with the money shift [between the teams] and all that stuff. You should put the pressure on the people that are at the head, that should be doing the job. I think they are trying to. But for many, many years they’ve made bad decisions.”
