A$AP Rocky is no longer in jail, nor did he receive a prison sentence for his violent crime. It’s perhaps the best verdict the rapper could’ve hoped for. Though his allies are very unhappy with the rapper for not saying “thank you” for helping him out.
When you get so caught up in freeing A$AP Rocky from jail that you threaten “negative consequences to the U.S.-Swedish bilateral relationship”, you’d hope for a heartfelt thank you from Rocky himself. According to an exclusive from Yahoo, this thank you never came and the people who worked to help Rocky are not pleased.
Pastor Darrell Scott and Urban Revitalization Coalition co-chair Kareem Lanier were two of the people hauled in by Trump’s team to assist in Rocky’s case. They stand as two of Trump’s most devout black-community supporters and have in the past stood with Trump as he has addressed U.S. citizen issues.

Rocky, after being held in a Stockholm jail cell on charges of assault, had his punishment lessened to a small fine and two years’ probation. This is a far cry from the several years of prison time he could’ve gotten.
According to Scott, “The White House didn’t ask for anything. There were no conditions attached, but my condition and Kareem’s condition was that all I’m asking for you guys to do is say thank you.”
Lanier weighs in that Rocky and his team did not get on well with him or Scott. Lanier revealed to Yahoo that he at one point “snapped” and exclaimed:
“I was like, man, you ungrateful motherf***ers, you. I can’t believe you. … We didn’t ask you guys for nothing other than for you guys to be grateful,” Lanier said he told him [one of Rocky’s attorneys]. “We just want you guys to be appreciative and say thank you.”
Scott and Lanier were two of the people responsible for making Trump himself dip his toe into the drama and talk with Sweden. The two men also insist that they spoke to Trump on Rocky’s behalf.
One of Trump’s many Rocky-related tweets
Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rocky’s incarceration. I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!

According to Lanier, he told Trump that giving Rocky aid would represent “a tremendous demonstration of goodwill, not only between our two Countries, but also between your Country, and the African American Community in the United States.”
According to Scott, all the two men would’ve needed was a thank you phone call for getting Trump involved, that never happened however.
