Eid Al Adha is fast approaching, with many of us taking the opportunity to leave the emirates for a well-deserved holiday. But if that’s not your style, perhaps retail therapy is.
Going shopping over Eid just got a tad easier, as many malls across the emirate have announced they will stay open longer during the Eid Al Adha holiday.
Eid Al Adha this year is expected to fall on Sunday, August 11, with Arafat Day on Saturday, August 10.
Malls like Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira and City Centre Mirdif, will all stay open until 1am, giving shoppers an extra hour of shopping. Ibn Battuta Mall has also given Dubai an extra hour to play with, closing at 1am.
The Dubai Mall, the largest mall in the world by total area, has opted for an extra two hours of shopping, closing at 2am. This change will last from August 8 to August 17.
Many of the malls are also beefing up their entertainment for Eid. City Centre Deira and Mirdif will both have roaming entertainment shows throughout the afternoons. These shows include Beauty and the Beast, Pastel Parade, and Royal Masquerade.
Dubai Festival City Mall (which closes at 1am) will put on firework displays on 11 and 12 August at 8pm and 10pm. Mall of the Emirates is also organising an aerial and acrobatics show from August 12 to16.
Many of these malls are hosting promotional incentives too, such as gift card promotions and raffle competitions.
