He recently won his recent fight against Keith Thurman

The 40 year old Filipino boxer has recently done the unthinkable. He won the WBA title in a split decision in Las Vegas. Now, reports suggest that his team of advisors have suggested he retire instead of facing Floyd Mayweather in a rematch.

Pacquiao instead wants a rematch against Floyd Mayweather to avenge his 2015 loss. The Filipino politician instead, would also be up for a fight against the winner of Errol Spence’s fight with Shawn Porter.

However according to his former promoter, Bob Arum, the star should quit while he’s ahead.

“If that fight happens, then it’s probably worth it to do because that would be a big, big, big fight,” Arum told Fighthype.com.

“Manny Pacquiao would win now.” On whether Pacquiao should now retire, Arum added: “He got the win [against Keith Thurman]. He went out on a big note. I would recommend that this is the time for him to hang it up. But listen, he makes his own choices.”

Since Pacquiao’s win against Thurman he’s been called out for many a fight. Marcos Maidana who hasn’t has a fight since 2014, wants to come out of retirement to face him. British boxer Amir Khan has also said he wants to fight the Filipino.

However, there’s no word yet from Pacquiao on what his future plans entail.
