A three-day mourning period has been announced in Sharjah

The Court of Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi – the ruler of Sharjah – is mourning the death of Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi today.

Sheikh Khalid was the son of the ruler, who apparently passed away on Monday in London, according to state news agency WAM. 

The Ruler’s Court expressed its deepest condolences to the Ruler of Sharjah, the family of the deceased and members of Qasimi family. 

A three-day mourning period was announced in Sharjah today, and all UAE flags will be flown at half mast, beginning with the arrival of the body of the deceased and the funeral prayer. The arrival of the body will be announced later, WAM added. 

Sheikh Khalid, 39, was the chairman of the Sharjah Urban Planning Council.
