Dubai is the city with some of the most luxurious five-star hotels in the world. Soon, there will another snazzy hotle joining its ranks. Waldorf Astoria is opening another hotel in Dubai’s DIFC district within the next few months. And included in its premises will be two of the famous New York hotel’s restaurants will be opening up — Restaurant Bull and Bear and the famous lounge Peacock Alley.
The hotel will have 201 rooms, 46 suites and 28 residences – all of which, according to its website, will have floor-to-ceiling windows. It is going for the 1960s New York vibe that you see in the hit ‘Mad Men’ show according to the interior designers.
The hotel is set across the 18th to 55th floors of the Burj Daman development, the building style is inspired by Madison and 5th Avenue in New York during the late 1950s and early 1960s.The hotel will have minimalist furniture and multifunctional design to ensure a slick, contemporary look. Marble, ebony, walnut, brass, and bronze have all been used in the decor of the hotel.
There will also be a state-of-the art spa and fitness centre, as well as meeting rooms, business centre, ballroom and library.
It is described as a “cutting-edge, urban retreat” with bespoke services and elevated culinary experiences.
The hotel originally consisted of two hotels – the Waldorf and the Astoria. They merged in Manhattan in 1931 and the building was the world’s tallest hotel until 1963.
