With the Marvel president himself wanting Reeves in, the question is what role could he play?
Tony Stark is dead. That doesn’t mean though that Iron Man is necessarily dead, at the end of Endgame, we saw someone else take the title of Captain America, why can’t the same happen with Iron Man?
In an interview with Comic Book, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave some gossip on the Marvel-Reeves relationship.
“We talk to him for almost every film we make.”
“We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”
The right way to do it you say? What’s more right than making this revamped Hollywood superstar into Iron Man? Imagine that folks, first Neo, then John Wick, then Iron Man. It’s the three coolest characters in cinema, it makes perfect sense!
The question is how exactly a new Iron Man would fit into the MCU. The MCU and comic book series share some similarities, but they do branch off into their own things a lot too. In fact, in the comic books Stark has died (and somehow been reborn) two or three times, it’s confusing to know exactly.
The MCU then very much did its own thing with the seemingly ‘final’ death of Stark at the end of the movie. This opens up a whole load of opportunities to put someone like Reeves in the suit.
In the comics, there’s actually an ‘Iron Man’ from 2020, yep, next year. This Iron Man 2020 was Arno Stark, a future brother of Tony Stark, who was kind of Tony Stark’s parents’ real child, and kind of born out of some weird alien stuff going on. There’s also loads of other people who have donned the Iron Man armour other than just War Machine and Potts, the MCU could just whip up its own new character to be Iron Man.
With rumours of time travel being a bigger part of the MCUs next venture, this Arno character from the future could very well make an appearance, he was a bit darker than Tony and a bit more sinister. A perfect role for the former-Neo star Keanu Reeves.
