Keanu Reeves has had a really good year so far, and his masses of fans want to top it off by making him Time Magazine’s Person of the Year
-
At the time of writing, over 30,000 people have signed the petition, mostly on the basis of him being such a nice guy
-
Former people to make the cut have included Barack Obama, Mark Zuckerberg and all those that helped during the Ebola crisis
Keanu Reeves is killing it this year, his third ‘John Wick’ film has raked in more cash and positive reviews than anyone could have hoped for, he’s got more movies on the way, a video game appearance and he’s all round just showing everyone this year how lovely he is. A lot of people think this is enough to make him Person of the Year, though we’re not too sure.
“Make Keanu Reeves 2019 Times Person of the Year” on Change.org has an impressive 31,000 signatures at the moment. The creator of the petition has little to say on the justification: “Keanu is the most wholesome person alive, make him the person of the year!”
Known best for his role as Neo in The Matrix movies, Reeves is back in the lime light this year, initially because his third John Wick film did so damn well, but now more because he’s just such a nice guy and so down to earth considering all the bad things that have happened in his life.
Here’s the thing though, we’re not saying he’s not a nice guy or that John Wick, Neo or any of his other performances aren’t great but Person of the Year might be a bit of a stretch guys.
Let’s look back at some previous people to adorn the cover of the prestigious mag. In 2014, the “Ebola fighters” made the cut, recognised as helping stop the spread of the deadly virus. 2010, it was Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, in 2017 it was the figureheads of the Me Too movement, and an awful of a lot of presidents and world leaders have also made it on the cover.
We’re not hating on Reeves or anything, we just wonder if just being “the most wholesome person” is enough to contend with presidents? Maybe it is, maybe the world is changing or maybe Reeves is just ‘THAT’ lovely.
If you think so, you can sign the petition here.
