Everyone knows that it gets hot here in the Middle East, especially during the summer months, but did you have any idea it would get this hot? The National Centre of Meteorology has predicted temperatures between 41 and 48 degrees Celsius, depending where you are in the Emirates.
Those in Al Ain and Delma will get hit with the 48 degree Celsius figure, those in Sharjah and Fujairah with 43 degree Celsius, those in Dubai with 42 degree Celsius and finally Abu Dhabi, the coolest of all with a 41 degrees Celsius prediction.
It isn’t just the temperature that’s hitting us hard either, it has been said there is an increase in humidity, especially in coastal areas, as well as winds, haziness, and possible dust and sand to sweep across the UAE.
Light to moderate winds will blow Southeasterly to Northeasterly at 20-30km/h, reaching 45km/h at times.

If the news of this heat is really getting you hot and bothered, the American Red Cross has put together six easy ways to protect yourself:
- Do not stay in or leave anyone in closed, parked cars during hot weather, especially children or pets.
- Do not exercise vigorously during the hottest times of the day. Instead, run, jog or exercise during the cooler part of the day.
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothing made from materials such as cotton, so sweat can evaporate. Do not forget to protect yourself from the sun either with a hat or an umbrella.
- Drink lots of liquids to replace the fluids you lose from sweating. Do not wait until you feel like you need a drink. When exercising, take small sips of liquid rather than large drinks. Water is the best drink to replace lost fluids.
- Do not drink beverages with caffeine as they speed up fluid loss.
- Some people perspire more than others do. Those who do should drink as much fluid as they can during hot, humid days.
