Loved by nearly everyone for his humble-attitude and commitment to good music over a glitzy self-image, 28-year-old Ed Sheeran may become a billionaire before he hits 30.
His ‘Divide’ tour, the artist’s third world concert tour lasting from March to August, has already netted the Brit an impressive £493 million. Experts though are predicting that he’ll make a further £100 million in the next three months, as well as predict him becoming a billionaire very soon.
If the predictions are right, Sheeran will have the highest-grossing music tour in history, beating U2’s record of £579.35 million over their 2009-11 run of shows.
Music industry author Mark Borkowski said: “The man who was busking on the streets is now a man who is going to be a billionaire. Above all, this shows just how potent live music is nowadays.”
The young artist made around £80 million in 2018, pushing his bank balance up to a decent £160 million. This means that he has made more in a year than any other music artist ever has.
Concert industry trade publication Pollstar estimates Ed’s average show earnings at £3.15million a night — so his remaining 35 gigs are set to pull in at least another £110million. The singer is currently playing to packed crowds in France and will end ‘Divide’ in his home town, ¬Ipswich, on August 26.
