UFO websites around the globe recieved near-record UFO sightings early Saturday, after hundreds of reports of a ‘train of stars’ were recorded above skies in the Netherlands.
The strange lights in the sky prompted fear of an alien invasion.
In reality, it wasn’t little green men behind the wierd goings-on in the sky. It was one man; Elon Musk.
Musk’s space company – SpaceX – announced that it had launched a strink of 60-some satellites hours earlier, which is part of its ‘Starlink’ contellation. The row of satellites aim to provide internet from space.
The string of satellites glided across Dutch skies around 1:00am promting many to report the sighting as UFO’s to some of the country’s leading newspapers and local UFO sighting reports.
While many went directly to aliens, others thought the strain of stars might be the work of Vladimir Putin. One witness wrote on social media, “Is it Russia attacking the US? Are they UFOs? Seriously, I didn’t know”.
The satellites were sent into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, which blasted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida on Friday. An hour after liftoff, the rocket began to release satellites 450-kilometres above Earth’s atmosphere.
Each satellite weights 227 kilogrammes, and was built in-house at SpaceX. According to sources, Starlink will become operational once 800-satellites have been activated.
