There are more than 37,000 McDonald’s in the world, but this one takes the prize for the smallest in history.
The McHive is up and running and despite its tiny size, and the fact it’s actually made for bees, it is impressively detailed. It includes signage, seating, drive-thru bays, and the famous golden arches, one of the most recognisable symbols in the whole world.
Looking like something right out of Ant-Man – we’re thinking the shrunken office, the diner is designed as a ‘tribute’ to the Swedish restaurants, some of which have beehives on the roof. It’s hoped that the McHive can become a more common occurrence for the company.
The plan is to have these quirky little beehives sit on top of restaurants in Sweden, hoped to promote the importance of bees in our community.
Christoffer Rönnblad, marketing director of McDonald’s Sweden, described it as a ‘great idea’.
According to Adweek, he said: “We have a lot of really devoted franchisees who contribute to our sustainability work, and it feels good that we can use our size to amplify such a great idea as beehives on the rooftops.”
