Hours ahead of the movie’s Cannes debut, the first full trailer for Tarantino’s next film was released

  • The new and hotly anticipated Quentin Tarantino movie released a new trailer hours before its big Cannes debut
  • Back in March, Tarantino shared the first teaser of his long-anticipated ninth movie
  • The trailer opens with our first look at Al Pacino’s Marvin Shwarz followed by a very Tarantino-esque homage to his own Inglourious Bastards
  • Even in an in-depth interview Esquire published with Tarantino, Brad Pitt, and DiCaprio, details about Hollywood have remained scarce

Quentin Tarantino is a genius. There’s no denying that. He’s given us big hits like Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Kill Bill 2, Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Bastards, and now his ninth movie One Upon a Time in Hollywood debuted at the Cannes Film Festival with a six minute standing ovation.

This movie has been in the works for a time now, and the story has everything to make it a hit. Set in the late 60s the script follows an action star Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Rick Dalton and his journey from a big name to a ‘has been’ in the industry.

“It’s official, ol buddy, I’m a has been,” Rick tells his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). The story then follows his new neighbour, rising Hollywood starlet Sharon Tate, who’s played by Margot Robbie. The most noteworthy appearance in this trailer is the meeting between Booth and cult leader Charles Manson (Damon Herriman).

However, apart from introducing the main characters, the trailer doesn’t give away much. But knowning Charles Manson’s sordid history and Sharon Tate’s fate it’s not hard to imagine how the story will flow. Tarantino, however, wants to keep the movie’s plot under wraps. Earlier this week, the director posted a plea to Cannes audiences to keep a lid on all spoilers.
