The world’s most expensive perfume – dubbed Shumukh (‘Spirit of Dubai’) – launched last night in Dubai.
The fragrance, which is a multiple Guinness World Record holding perfume, is adorned by 3,571 diamonds and other precious materials, such as topaz, pearls and gold. The one-of-a-kind bottle tells the tale of the great Emirate, via seven core design elements including Arabian horses, roses and falconry.
The bottle itself stands 1.97-metres tall and took more than three years (and 494 trials) to create. Shumuck – which in Arabic translates to ‘deserving the highest’ – is made up of natural ingredients sourced from the furthest corners of the globe, which creates a scent unlike any other.
Fragrance notes include sandalwood, musk, Turkish rose, patchouli, Ylang-ylang and pure Indian agarwood.

Shumukh was created by Mr. Asghar Adam Ali, Chairman and Master perfumer at Nabeel Perfumes Group of Companies. He sought out some of the world’s greatest artisans and master craftsmen from Switzerland, Italy and France – including recipients of the designation of Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (“Best Craftsman of France”).
More importantly, the spray can be operated via remote control.
As a result, Shumuck is the only perfume to hold not one, but two Guinness World Record titles, including ‘most diamonds set on a perfume bottle’ and ‘tallest remote controlled fragrance spray product’.
Shumukh will be on display in The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue starting tomorrow, until the 30th of March. Visitors will have the chance to check out the bottle, as well as pick up the individual perfumes and have them engraved.
