Eighties video game chic meets Notorious BIG in our watch of the week

As part of the G-Shock’s 35th anniversary celebration, Casio has unveiled its most expensive watch to date, the G-D5000-9JR – an 18-karat yellow gold piece valued at around $68,600 (£52,000).

In-line with the brand’s 2015 Baselworld Dream Project GW-5000 – another concept watch befitting a wunderkind Starcraft gamer – the square case, brand and screws are all to be cast from solid gold, and Casio has left the iconic design relatively untouched. That means you can expect the same retro aesthetic with a trademarked Tough Solar charging system inside.

The watch will comewith features including Tough Solar, 38 different time zones, an LED backlight, and their Multi-Band 6 technology for automatic time adjustment.

Fancy owning your own? You can file a pre-order request online on 15 May, with pieces set for shipping in early December.
