Naming a new Bond film is a massive, massive deal. The snap from the word salads of the later Brosnan outings to the lean, muscular one-worders of Daniel Craig‘s time was a statement, and it’s a statement that sounds like it’ll continue with Craig’s final outing.
As the Independent reports, a listing on Production Weekly suggests that Bond 25 will be called Shatterhand. It certainly accords with a 2017 report which also said that the plot would come from Raymond Benson’s novel Never Dream Of Dying. Benson’s books also provided plots for Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day, with varying degrees of success and impromptu kiteboarding.
Fancy a quick sprint through the plot of Never Dream Of Dying? Great. It starts with a bungled and violent police raid which takes out quite a few civilians, and Bond gets involved to sort out the Union, the criminal organisation behind it.
On the way, he gets involved with film star Tylyn Mignonne and finds out it’s got something to do with Tylyn’s husband’s new film, Pirate Island. Never Dream Of Dying came out in 2001, when Pirate Island was still a vaguely plausible name for a film.
In 2018 it was revealed that months after revealing that he’d direct the upcoming 25th James Bond film, Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle has exited the film because of creative differences.
“Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig later announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25,” the official James Bond Twitter account tweeted.
