The brand combined both its menswear and womenswear collections in Milan

Footwear designer Paul Andrew, recently appointed the new creative director of Salvatore Ferragamo, launched his Fall 2019 collection in Milan to a rancous applause.

Ferragamo combined both its menswear and womenswear collections in Milan and featured a color palette that ranged from a peacock blue to an icy sage, to mauve with forest green.

AP reports that “the combined womenswear and menswear collections included leather apparel for day and night, stretching beyond overcoats and footwear. That included long leather skirts with a pretty slit, a long black leather evening gown and a leather jumpsuit, as well as sportier suits for him and for her.”

The brand’s signature footwear for the season included a remastered sculpted heel inspired by a 1968 design by Fiamma Ferragama for women and rugged Nubuck trekking boots for men.

Known for his own eponymous label, Andrew joined the company in September 2016 as Women’s Footwear Director and was promoted a year later to Women’s Creative Director.

A company release said:

“The Board of Directors of Salvatore Ferragamo, parent Company of the Salvatore Ferragamo Group, one of the world’s leading players in the luxury sector, gathered today under the Presidency of Ferruccio Ferragamo announces the appointment of Paul Andrew as Creative Director of the Salvatore Ferragamo brand.”

The House has also revealed that Guillaume Meilland will maintain his role as Men’s Ready-to-Wear Design Director and is entrusted with the additional responsibility of Studio Director, coordinating the development of all product categories under the leadership of the Creative Director.

Prior to his roles with Ferragamo, the English designer was vice president of design, shoes and accessories for Donna Karan for nine years.
