You might be pedalling in your living room, but your feet won’t know it

For the people who love fitness, but hate the outdoors (or even worse, the gym – yuck!) Technogym has you covered.

It’s just pulled the wraps off a new indoor bike that’s perfect for indoor cyclists. The Technogym Skillbike is pretty much the iPhone of exercise bikes, with a 7-inch touchscreen that gives you real-time performance data (on biking things, such as cadence, speed, distance, heart rate, etc.) And thanks to smart new ‘pedal printing’ technology, it can also give you feedback on the circularity and symmetry of your pedalling.

But if you exercise alone in your living room and no one is around to see it, did you even exercise? The answer is no, which is why the Skillbike works with a number of training programmes, including the likes of Strava, Garmin and ZWift.

One of the main differences between riding outdoors and indoors (apart from, you know, the weather) is mechanics. According to Technogym, real bikes feel different than exercise machines,  so it’s invested in a feature called ‘Road Effect.’ It learns from your pedalling style to provide the rider with the exact right kind of feedback, so your feet can’t tell the difference.

More importantly, it means you can enjoy the likes of the recently-launched Red Dead Redemption 2‘s 100+ hour single player campaign (and get fit while you do it).
