Dubai Design District is getting a new ‘luxury event’ concept

What’s in a name? The best names tell you everything you need to know about them, right from the off. So let’s apply that reasoning to the Dubai Design District’s spiffing new extension; Posh Village.

First off, posh people love money. And beyond money, they love spending said money on luxury goods (such as watches, jewellery, high-fashion, and the like). Next, the term ‘village’. The internet tells us that a village can be defined as a group of associated buildings (larger than a hamlet and smaller than a town).

Hence – as Sherlock Holmes would deduce – Dubai Design District’s Posh Village is a place full of expensive luxury items that rich people can go to and buy said luxury goods. Words are fun!

Indeed, Posh Village is a new exhibition concept out of Dubai Design District. As the name might preclude, it concentrates on luxury events, and it will first open its doors to the public on November 29, for a glitzy launch party dubbed “A Starry Night of Fashion”. That will open a three-day exhibition featuring bespoke fashion and jewellery items crafted by high-end European designers.

Posh Village itself is a 2,500-square-foot space, dedicated to exhibitions, function and events. We’d imagine a few of the region’s budding fashion designers might be eyeing-up this venue for regional drops and catwalk collections.

Speaking at the launch, Aldo Garbagnati – CEO and founder of Posh Village, said “Posh Village is being launched to address a gap in the market. Existing clients of my foreign direct investment business are looking for a space to access high-end boutique and totally original items and luxury services. Put simply, Posh Village with bring together patrons and makers of beautiful things.”

He added: “Posh Village recognizes what makes any occasion memorable is the experience. We promise our clients whatever they find at Posh Village is more than an item in a bag: it’s a memory to be cherished and a story to be told.”
